Let's talk about how much I hate coming up with post titles... and other stuff.

I accidentally stopped adding labels to my blog posts. And by accidentally, I mean that I consciously stopped adding them because I was all "What is the point?" except that NOW, I WANT them there, for no other reason then I feel like I want labels on my blog posts on Tuesday night. IT'S JUST WHAT I WANT.

We have three cars now. And only two drivers. It's a teensy bit obnoxious. BASICALLY, our jeep broke, and it's getting fixed by a mechanic friend, and in the mean time, instead of sharing one car, DadGuy got another one on the cheap, and THEN when the jeep is fixed, he's going to put both of the cars up for sale, and then we'll just WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Personally, as much as I like the jeep, I do like having a car that has seatbelts for all the children. It brings peace to my paranoid mom heart.

My kids started piano lessons last week, and I'm pretty sure that they haven't practiced. This is because our Xbox also came back from being fixed, and we finally are getting to try out the new games that we got on Christmas. Do you know what is awesome? Getting video games for Christmas and NOT HAVING A VIDEO GAME CONSOLE.

I also now have an exercise bike in my house. It's sorta a big deal, because remember how my leg goes numb when I walk or use it? WELL. If my leg goes numb while I'm riding a bike IN MY HOME, it's all good, because A) I won't fall off and B) I'm already home. Can you imagine me on a real bike, riding around a real neighborhood and then having my leg go completely numb? It's not like when your foot is asleep and it's obnoxious but you can control it someone. My WHOLE LEG turns to rubber and starts flailing around like an octopus. Or, at least what I imagine an octopus would look like. I'm basing most of this opinion on the scene in Pirates of the Carribean with THE KRAKEN.

Meanwhile, the thing I hate most in the world of personal blogging is trying to come up with post titles. I mean, I could put the date, but THEN the date would be there TWICE. And I don't always want to use the date, because sometimes, on occasion, I actually do have a funny/witty title, and the regular date header is nice to have. But I don't want to have a double date. NO DOUBLE DATING. Unless, of course, you're talking about dating in an entirely different context, and then a whole new set of parameters comes up and you know, THAT.

Two Birds, One Stone

You know how your body gets so tired, that your eyes go blurry? I am having that right now. So please excuse any grammatical and spelling errors that are certain to happen here.

This past week, we’ve taken turns passing around some sort of virus. It’s gone through all of the kids, and I’m halfway waiting to come down with it myself. Of course, so far I’m in the clear, and I attribute this the fact that I’ve been avoiding my kids as much as possible.  I could lie and say that I’m avoiding them because of my medications/weakened immune system/doctors told me to stay away from sick people, or I can just embrace that, that is the type of parent I am. You are sick? Here is a throw up bucket, but please try to make it to the toilet.

I don’t’ know how parents who don’t have a throw up bowl function. Maybe they just have trained the kids on vomiting etiquette better than I have? Or maybe they’re magical and their kids don’t get sick.

When I was in school, I loved sick days. I never understood students who had a perfect attendance record. Then again, I wasn’t usually sick on my sick days. My senior year was awesome because I made the chronic illness list, thereby giving me the freedom to do things during the day such as canoeing down the river.  Sick days are never fun if you’re actually sick.

One time, I had pink eye, and being the fair complexioned person that I am, I looked like an albino rabbit. White hair, white skin, red eyes. I would have made a great vampire.

Do you put your cart in the return area after you grocery shop? When I lived in Arizona, I didn’t. Because there was no wind, and the ground was flat. You could just leave your cart, and it wouldn’t move.  Here I put the cart back in the stall because the ground is uneven and it gets really windy. Virginia has made me a more polite grocery shopper.

During our grocery rounds today, I took my kids out to lunch. We went to Panda Express. This may not be a big deal to you, but you have to understand that they didn’t have a drive thru. That makes it a big deal. Because we had to get out of the car, and eat in the restaurant. Which means that myself and my children both had to be presentable enough to go out in public.

My kids are great in public. A family at the table next to us, a mom, dad, and child, were watching as we ate. today.  The mom said to me, “I don’t know how you do it.  One is enough for me.” which made me sad for the little girl, because the way the mom said it, she may has well slapped the kid in the face. Her tone sounded more along the lines of, “I will never have any other kids because this monster child is killing me slowly.” It’s never good to hear resentment.

My elbows hurt. Really badly. I have an appointment with the rheumatologist this week, and I get to have a bone density scan. Not that the elbows is related. I’m just saying that it’s a JOINT and I’m having x-rays of said joints in 5 days. Two birds, one stone.

AND everyone is mad at each other too.

I have been working on a new project with my very good, very artistic friend Melissa.

We are very excited about it, and hope to have everything ready to roll out on October 1.

Of course, we could have it ready BEFORE October 1, but that would probably cause at least one of us to spontaneously combust into a million fiery pieces of ash.

In other news, Northern Virginia has declared a state of emergency.

BASICALLY what this means is that now the grocery stores are going to be out of food because people like to freak out over any kind of inclement weather. (Just a casual observation I’ve had over the years. Snow = no milk on the shelves.)

Of course, I usually do my errands on Friday, so this does not bode well for our house. Naturally, I called DadGuy and asked him to stop by the store on his way home from work today and get stuff. What kind of stuff? Totally his call. I just don’t care all that much. The children requested ice cream.

What mostly annoys me is that I watered all the plants this morning, and an hour later, it started raining. WHAT a waste of a chore.

Tonight I am giving myself my first shot of Rebif. I am expecting to feel terrible, because then I might be pleasantly surprised. Or not. But the worst is when you think you’ll be FINE and then you’re NOT FINE. Those are the worst kinds of days. If you expect everything to go wrong, then your day always seems fabulous in comparison.

Yesterday the boys decided to ignore my sage advice and ride bikes and play outside without shoes. Daniel crashed his bike and cut two of his toes, and Thaddeus got bitten or stung by something, and his foot is red, hot, and swollen. Serves them both right, mother knows best.

On rainy sort of days, I get confused. It’s never the time I think it is, and everything just feels off. And on the one hand, the day seems to drag on indefinitely, and on the other hand, it’s suddenly time for bed. I don’t understand how it works at all, but it’s discombobulating. Plus, it makes my kids fight with each other like CUH. RAZY. Right now, they all hate each other and are fighting about dumb things like whether or not someone is breathing too much. Did you know that people breathe too much? Because according to my sources, this happens fairly often.

ALSO: If you could have any kind of party/event, what would your theme be?
