How to tell who your REAL friends are….

Heather wrote about meeting up with me one day last week. From her blog:

I got to meet up with Caroline this week. I seriously love that girl & her fam. They are awesome.

People, this sentence makes it sound like we did something fun and exciting.

But that is not the case.

It was pathetic and sad.

Heather was all cute and ready to go do something, but do you know what I was?

Exhausted.

Do you know why?

Because my kids were gone.

What does that have to do with each other?

Not much, but isn’t it weird that anytime I find myself alone (aka childless) I turn into a zombie who just wants to sleep? It’s like my body is saying, “Hurry! Hurry! Have a nap while you still can!”

Anyways, do you want to know what we actually did? Okay, I’ll tell you.

We did nothing.

Okay, that’s a lie.

First, she watched me type out name tags and sizing labels for the kids clothing for the wedding.

Then she stood in the laundry room as I counted how many medium shirts and etc there were.

Then Tyler came in (the groom) so we made a tiny bit of fun at him.

Then we (as in: my family) decided we were thirsty so Heather drove me to Sonic  so that I could get way too many drinks.

(I participated in Sonic Happy Hour daily… because there isn’t one where I live. LemonBerry Slush me please.)

Then we went back to the house and sat around…. DOING NOTHING.

Unless you count making fun of people something.

Then I remembered that Easter was coming up, so I said:

“Do you want to take me to Wal-Mart so I can get Easter stuff?”

So we did.

Then she tried to take me out to dinner, but I wasn’t hungry.

So I watched her eat instead, and she felt guilty about it the whole time, which I felt slightly bad about, but not enough to eat with her.

BECAUSE I’M A GOOD FRIEND LIKE THAT.

Then, she took me home.

And that was that.

I don’t know why she likes me so much, it’s wholly undeserved.

P.S. At Sonic, Heather ordered an apple juice box. I just wanted you to know.
