Traditions

We got to go to the kids Fall Festival last night. It was supposed to be last weekend, but the high school football team made it to the playoffs, so it was rescheduled. Because, you know, we are a small town and people can't be in two places at once. At any rate, it was a lot of fun, the kids had a good time, and it got us out of the house.

Meanwhile, Taylor has managed to sprain her knee. She twisted it on her way home from the bus stop Thursday. Luckily, she's a pro at crutches so it's not stopping her from doing much. It's kind of hilarious to see her handle the crutches so well.

And tomorrow is stake conference. Which means that I get a week off from primary singing time, which means that our next music time will be CHRISTMAS THEMED. I'm excited about it, mostly because I love all the Christmas songs in the children's songbook.

Also: thanks to some pre-black Friday sales, we have most of the Christmas shopping done. I still need to get a few things, but nothing major. All I know is that the kids are going to be super excited, which is fun. I know that people have strong feelings about Christmas and gifts and whatnot, but I've done the same thing for years and years, and it works for us. We do five gifts: something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read, PLUS, Christmas jammies. We open the jammies on Christmas Eve, and wear them as we drive around looking at Christmas lights, rocking out to Christmas music. It's our thing, and we're not going to change it.

What are some of your holiday traditions?
