The Best Thanksgiving Ever

At Thanksgiving dinner, we all went around the table and said what we were thankful for. Blayne is thankful for family, Daniel is thankful for Christmas lights, Thaddeus is thankful for Mom and Dad, and Taylor is thankful for chicken.

Then the kids asked us what we were thankful for.

I explained how blessed we are that we have this beautiful home to live in, how Daddy has a good job, that we are able to have food on the table and warm coats and shoes.

But what I am most thankful for this holiday season is our health. MY health.

You see, this is the first Thanksgiving in seven years that I haven't been sick.

In 2003, I was very pregnant, miserable and bedridden.

In 2004, I was very pregnant, miserable, bedridden, and I had an eleven month old.

In 2005, I was very pregnant, miserable, bedridden, and I had an eleven month old, and a 23 month old.

In 2006, I was pregnant, miserable, bedridden, and I had a six month old, a one year old, and a two year old.

In 2007, I was not pregnant, but having complications from the stress of being pregnant for four years, among other things, as well as mothering a six month old preemie, a one year old, a two year old, and a three year old.

2008 was spent recovering from various surgeries and procedures and trying different combination's of medicines and therapies.

This year, November 2009, is the first Thanksgiving that hasn't been scheduled around me and my health. "Take medication with food" and "Take in the morning on an empty stomach" and "Take one hour after eating, and two hours before eating" did not come into play at all.

There were no painkillers swallowed, no anxiety medicines, anti-inflammatories, or therapies in play.

Yesterday, was just me, and my husband, and my children, enjoying ourselves, no strings attached.

It is the best Thanksgiving I have ever had.

I am thankful for our health.
